Raja Koduri leads Intel's GPU strategy and market positioning as the architect of modern GPU computing paradigms.

Raja Koduri of Intel helped kick off the movement of GPU computing 14 years ago when he was at Advanced Micro Devices, a year before Nvidia chief Jensen Huang talked about the phenomenon. The idea was that GPUs could do more than smooth video game graphics—they could crunch scientific problems. Today, that vision is a reality, as GPUs are the workhorse of artificial intelligence and, increasingly, high-performance computing of all sorts.

As Intel's lead architect, Koduri is now refining the strategy for a world of more heterogeneous computing. "We are at an inflection point for high-performance computing," he says, noting the ability to program massively-parallel computing systems with simple tools. This reflects his ongoing evolution in the field he helped pioneer over a decade ago.
