Wistron has opened its first U.S. manufacturing facility in Fort Worth, Texas, marking a significant milestone in the company's American expansion. The 324,000-square-foot greenfield plant is dedicated to producing superchips at the core of advanced AI systems. At the factory's opening ceremony, NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang appeared alongside Wistron Chairman Simon Lin to address an audience of executives, Taiwan government officials and local Fort Worth leaders.

The facility, called the D1 plant, currently operates two manufacturing cells. One produces the NVIDIA GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Superchip, while the second will manufacture the NVIDIA Vera Rubin Superchip. The plant is scaling up this year to produce tens of thousands of boards per month. Huang emphasized that manufacturing is essential infrastructure for any economy and that building chip plants, packaging facilities, computer system plants and AI factories across the United States represents the country's first true reindustrialization in decades.

The $700 million investment has already created over 500 jobs across the Texas facility, with plans to expand that number to 1,000 by year's end. Job creation spans construction, plumbing, manufacturing and electrical trades. The state-of-the-art facility represents NVIDIA's commitment to manufacturing up to $500 billion in advanced AI platforms within the United States.

Wistron designed and fully simulated the entire facility before construction using a digital twin built on NVIDIA technology, including the Nemotron and Cosmos frontier models, Omniverse and Metropolis libraries, and open frameworks such as PhysicsNeMo. This approach allowed engineers to validate assembly layouts, optimize production processes and train workers virtually before systems went live.

At the ceremony, the first NVIDIA GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Superchip produced on site was unveiled and signed by Huang. He described this system as the most powerful AI supercomputer in the world, noting it contains one and a half million parts, weighs two tons and costs four million dollars. Huang emphasized that these systems are being produced at volume like phones because the world needs them to power the intelligence infrastructure.
