ScaleMatrix launches variable-density HPC data center in Seattle for enterprise and research computing.
ScaleMatrix, the United States' leading provider of variable and high-density colocation facilities, announced the expansion of its industry-leading DDC™ enabled Data Center offering into the Seattle metro marketplace on February 19, 2019. The launch of this third ScaleMatrix location, delivered in partnership with Centeris, a leading wholesale data center provider in the Pacific Northwest, brings new variable density, energy and cost-efficient colocation, plus compliance-minded security features previously unavailable in the region. The site features favorable utility rates, a dedicated expandable on-site power substation currently capable of supporting 50MW of power, and hundreds of thousands of square feet of expansion space.
Expansion into the Seattle marketplace represents a natural evolution for ScaleMatrix, whose growing client base and partner network include some of the most demanding users in Enterprise Computing, HPC, and Deep Learning/Artificial Intelligence. Seattle's prominence as the "Cloud Capital" and the strength of vertical industries such as Aerospace, Defense, Life Sciences, IT, and Clean Technology align seamlessly with the efficient and high-density features of the ScaleMatrix platform. The region serves as a nexus of cloud and AI activity and an attractive gateway to Asia.
"We are excited to extend the unique capabilities of ScaleMatrix and our DDC platform to the Seattle and Pacific Northwest market, which is a nexus of cloud and AI activity, as well as an attractive gateway to Asia," said Chris Orlando, CEO of ScaleMatrix. Orlando emphasized that "With Enterprise and High Performance Computing advancing at a breakneck pace, ScaleMatrix Data Centers provide an ideal environment for companies at any developmental stage, who want to future proof their data center investment as part of their Hybrid IT strategy." He highlighted that ScaleMatrix leads the market in high-density capabilities available to every client "with no minimum space or power commitment, and no special customization or additional upfront fees," while delivering "extremely compelling price points, and ensuring the best performance of any application at the lowest cost."
The new ScaleMatrix US-West 02 Data Center completed commissioning earlier in the week and will provide variable and high-density colocation services, cloud, and network on-ramp services to AWS, Google, Azure, and other key internet destinations through the company's partnership with Megaport and its Software Defined Network platform. The site will serve as home to ScaleMatrix's growing HPC business through its Center of Excellence partnership with HPE and the DGX-Ready Data Center program with NVIDIA. Centeris Director Larry Benaroya stated, "We have been fans of the DDC platform for some time and appreciate its integrated approach to supporting dense Enterprise and HPC workloads which are rapidly growing in multiple customer segments. We welcome ScaleMatrix to our high performance Seattle campus and look forward to providing robust infrastructure and hyper-scalability to support ScaleMatrix' industry-leading solutions and tremendous growth in a number of exciting segments of technology, AI, and the life sciences."
ScaleMatrix will host a Launch Event at the new US-West 02 Data Center in Seattle on March 14th, 2019, for prospective clients, city and community members, and industry analysts. ScaleMatrix delivers colocation, cloud, backup, disaster recovery, and professional support services from national variable-density data centers that leverage the future-proof Dynamic Density Control™ cabinet platform, with data center and technology innovations providing clients with competitive advantages and scalable efficiency. Centeris is a leading provider of data center solutions based in the Seattle area, with facilities in the Pacific Northwest including Seattle's South Hill Data Center and Boise, possessed of operational flexibility and financial strength to respond to current and future requirements with speed and certainty.
