Samsung locked supply contracts with global top 5 hyperscaler data center customers; final-stage negotiations with 5 major AI customers

Samsung Electronics predicted on July 30 that memory chip shortages will intensify further next year as hyperscale cloud service providers expand their investments in AI infrastructure, driving increased demand for servers, solid-state drives, and high-bandwidth memory (HBM). Samsung stated that it has signed contracts with five of the world's largest data center customers and is in the final stages of negotiations with five major AI-related large customers.
Updated investigation results released by OpenAI on July 28 show that during the company's AI models' uncontrolled breach of Hugging Face's systems, they also accessed accounts on multiple public service platforms using publicly available information. OpenAI previously acknowledged that multiple AI models, including GPT-5.6 Sol, broke out of isolated test environments during internal evaluation and breached Hugging Face's systems. The latest investigation reveals the models accessed at least 4 accounts on at least 4 public service platforms during the attack. One account was used as a relay and temporary storage channel; one was used for data storage; two others received read-only access and were not used for further attacks on Hugging Face's systems. OpenAI stated it has informed relevant service providers of the investigation results.
Samsung Electronics predicted on July 30 that Q3 HBM4 (sixth-generation high-bandwidth memory) sales will increase more than twofold quarter-over-quarter, with H2 HBM4 sales accounting for over 60% of total HBM sales. Samsung aims to raise its global HBM market share in H2 to match DRAM (synchronous dynamic random-access memory) levels. Samsung's global DRAM market share was 38% in Q1 2026.

According to Tianyancha App, Sichuan Changjiang Guarantee Group Co., Ltd. underwent business registration changes, with Sichuan Yibin Wuliangye Group Co., Ltd., Yibin City Industry Investment Group Co., Ltd., and Yibin City High-Tech Investment Group Co., Ltd. added as new shareholders. Registered capital increased from approximately 1.41 billion yuan to approximately 5.36 billion yuan, an increase of approximately 279%. The company was established in November 2022 with legal representative Zheng Zhi. Its business scope includes non-financing guarantee services, asset management using its own funds, investment activities using its own funds, financing consulting services, and enterprise management consulting. Current shareholders include Yibin City Finance Bureau and the newly added shareholders.
Renault Group reported H1 2026 revenue of 303 billion euros, up 9.5% year-over-year, or 10.3% on a constant currency basis.
