FiveNines Group and Nexus Core Systems have partnered on a 20MW data center outside Casablanca, Morocco.
Design, engineering, and construction company FiveNines Group and Nexus Core Systems are teaming up to establish a 20MW data center on the outskirts of Casablanca, Morocco.
The data center will be designed for high-density AI computing and will house Nvidia Vera Rubin NVL72 systems. FiveNines will handle the project's design management, technical governance, consultant coordination, constructability, and procurement strategy.
Gerry Curran, CEO of FiveNines Group, said: "We are delighted to partner with Nexus Core Systems in order to construct an advanced data center in North Africa. This project will bring together our international data center expertise with Moroccan architects, engineers, technical advisers, and relevant authorities."
Bastian Remmlinger, head of infrastructure at Nexus Core Systems, added: "We are very pleased with the cooperation and services FiveNines Group has provided so far. Their team has supported us well as we shape the design and delivery approach for the Morocco data center. We look forward to continuing our work together on this ambitious project."
The data center will form part of the Nexus AI Factory Platform, through which Nexus aims to establish a 180MW "advanced infrastructure hub" that runs on renewable energy. Nexus revealed its plans for a 20MW facility in the region in April 2026. Prior to that, Nexus was said to be working with Korea's Naver on a 500MW project in Morocco. That data center was targeting an initial 40MW.
On its website, Nexus Core Systems lists plans for a 12-hectare Moroccan site, as well as a 10MW site in Charlotte, North Carolina, and capacity totaling 40MW across Sweden. The company claims to be able to support up to 400kW per rack via liquid cooling. The 20MW data center in Casablanca is not listed.
The company's CEO and cofounder is listed as Christopher Yoshida, a managing partner at boutique global advisory and private investment vehicle Pinetree Partners. He was previously CFO at Northern Data.
FiveNines is a UK-based construction company and should not be confused with 5Nines, a colocation provider. The company recently delivered a 9.6MW data center to a hyperscale customer in Austria.
Morocco has a small data center footprint at present. Casablanca and Rabat are its largest data center markets, with operators including Orange, N+One, and Inwi.
