Storage software provider MinIO is establishing a HUMAIN AI data fabric deployment in Saudi Arabia.
MinIO has partnered with Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund to provide the data foundation for a sovereign Saudi AI stack developed by HUMAIN, which is building an operating system for enterprise intelligence. Both companies assert that the future of artificial intelligence will not be defined by individual models or isolated applications, but rather by integrated platforms that unify infrastructure, compute, data, memory, models, agents, and intelligent applications into a single operating ecosystem. Through this collaboration, MinIO will contribute the critical data foundation to realize that vision.
“AI is only as powerful as the data foundation behind it,” said HUMAIN CEO Tareq Amin. “As organizations move from experimentation to production-scale AI, they need platforms that can securely manage, govern, and deliver data at unprecedented scale and performance. Our partnership with MinIO strengthens HUMAIN with world-class AI-native data infrastructure while accelerating our vision of building an AI platform that enables enterprises, governments, and developers to deploy intelligent systems with confidence. Together, we are creating the data foundation that will power the next generation of AI.”
Amin brings extensive industry experience to his December 2024 appointment as HUMAIN CEO. His career includes leadership roles at T-Mobile and Huawei, followed by serving as Rakuten’s Group CTO from January 2021, Rakuten Symphony CEO in Japan, and CEO of Aramco Digital in Saudi Arabia.
HUMAIN was officially launched in May of last year by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and is owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), which manages $900 billion in assets and is chaired by the Crown Prince. The company’s mandate aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 strategy, focusing on the development of AI infrastructure, Arabic-language models, data centers, and related capabilities.
Under the new agreement, MinIO and HUMAIN are establishing a strategic engineering and global go-to-market partnership, with MinIO designated as HUMAIN’s data and memory foundation partner. The collaboration will focus on joint research and development to co-create next-generation, AI-native platform capabilities. At the core of this effort is HUMAIN Fabric, an AI-native unified data platform designed to power enterprise and sovereign AI initiatives. MinIO will lead the platform’s architecture, design, and development. HUMAIN Fabric will serve as the foundational data and memory layer for the broader HUMAIN AI Stack, underpinning products including HUMAIN ONE, HUMAIN Brain, HUMAIN Create, and future AI services.
“We are at the beginning of a new era in AI, one defined not by individual models but by the platforms that put intelligence to work at scale,” said Anand Babu (AB) Periasamy, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of MinIO. “MinIO and HUMAIN are co-developing HUMAIN Fabric as that platform; unified, AI-native, and purpose-built for a new class of agentic data engineering. By harnessing AI's ability to write code and reason over data, HUMAIN Fabric will help enterprises across the Kingdom and beyond solve problems that were previously out of reach. This is a partnership we are truly excited to be part of.”
Initial deployments will take place in Saudi Arabia before expanding alongside HUMAIN’s international growth strategy, supporting organizations worldwide that require secure, scalable, production-ready AI infrastructure. The partnership complements HUMAIN’s existing ecosystem of technology partners, which includes AMD, AirTrunk, AWS, Cisco, Compal, Groq, Qualcomm, Reflection AI, stc/center3, and Together.AI.
In a separate but related development, HUMAIN recently announced a partnership with Silicon Valley-based KORA Systems, a developer of an operating system for intelligent PCs called KORA. The two companies are collaborating to build HUMAIN OS, an AI-native, Linux-based operating system for enterprise computing. Designed to understand user objectives, identify context, select the appropriate AI tools, and determine where workloads must run, the joint program encompasses the OS, Linux integration, AI runtime, security, device management, user experience, and application environments. The AI-driven OS will route workloads across PCs, enterprise environments, and cloud infrastructure based on privacy requirements, latency, connectivity, organizational costs, and corporate policies.
The system will also feature an on-device AI layer optimized for Qualcomm computing platforms. A 26-billion-parameter AI model will run locally on a Qualcomm neural processing unit (NPU), enabling advanced AI capabilities directly on personal computers while ensuring search data and computational processes remain securely on the device. According to Amin, the companies are working to move AI beyond being merely another desktop application, instead making intelligence an integral component of the underlying system. HUMAIN OS is scheduled for commercial availability in 2027.
