Super Micro Computer's Taiwan offices raided as part of NVIDIA chip smuggling investigation by authorities.
Super Micro's offices in Taiwan were raided by investigators today as part of an investigation into the alleged smuggling of NVIDIA chips to China. The company stated that it is working closely with authorities on the matter.
According to Bloomberg's reporting, local authorities also raided the homes of six individuals and offices of three other companies related to the investigation, though specific details about those entities remain undisclosed.
In a statement, Super Micro said: "Super Micro is committed to protecting our advanced technologies and intellectual property. Super Micro products continued to be targeted in these matters, and we continue to cooperate with law enforcement and government officials in Taiwan and other jurisdictions in which we operate to ensure our technology is distributed as lawfully intended."
The news moved market valuations for both companies. Super Micro stock declined approximately eight percent during the session, closing at $194.97. NVIDIA recovered its initial losses and finished the day up one percent.
