Fluidstack closes $830 million Series A at $8 billion valuation to expand distributed AI GPU infrastructure.
Fluidstack, a UK-founded neocloud provider, confirmed it raised $830 million in Series A funding at a $7.5 billion valuation. The round, which closed in January, was led by Situational Awareness, the AI-focused investment firm founded by former OpenAI researcher Leopold Aschenbrenner. The company did not disclose other participating investors, describing them only as leading global backers.
Fluidstack converts former cryptocurrency mining sites into AI data centers for frontier AI developers. The funding will accelerate its goal of becoming the fastest company to deploy hundreds of gigawatts of computing capacity globally. The company acquires power, designs and constructs data centers, and operates the computing infrastructure used by AI labs—a full-stack approach that differentiates it from traditional cloud providers.
The company claims its infrastructure can deliver gigawatts of capacity within six months, compared to the 18 to 24 months typically required by the industry. Its platform reportedly serves Anthropic, Meta, Nvidia, AMI, and Cognition.
Fluidstack's largest announced project is a partnership with Anthropic to build $50 billion of computing infrastructure across the United States. Initial facilities are being developed in Texas and New York, with additional locations planned. Anthropic expects these sites to begin coming online throughout 2026, and projects the program will create approximately 800 permanent jobs and 2,400 construction jobs.
Reports in April indicated Fluidstack was also discussing a separate $1 billion funding round that could value the company at approximately $18 billion. Jane Street was reportedly considering leading that financing, potentially alongside Situational Awareness, though the company has not announced that transaction.
Fluidstack framed its expansion as part of a broader race to control the computing resources needed to develop advanced AI systems. The company plans to hire hundreds of employees across software, hardware, power, design, and data center operations.
