Indian AI startup Sarvam AI is raising $74 million (approximately Rs 698 crore) in a Series B extension led by NVIDIA, following its earlier achievement of unicorn status. According to company filings with the Registrar of Companies, Sarvam AI's board has approved the issuance of 20,244 Series B preference shares and seven equity shares at Rs 3,44,570 per share.

NVIDIA is investing Rs 238 crore ($25 million) in the round. Glade Brook Capital will contribute Rs 190.3 crore ($20 million), while Gaja Capital is participating with Rs 95 crore. Individual investors Sanjay Kalra and Jyotika Kapoor are also joining the round with Rs 50 crore in investments. Additional participants include angel investors and family offices such as Vrijesh Agarwal, KJ Trust, and AL Trust, along with Indigo Ventures and other institutional investors.

This extension follows Sarvam AI's $234 million Series B funding round led by HCL Technologies. The latest investment is expected to value the company at approximately Rs 14,342 crore ($1.51 billion) post-money. Following this investment, NVIDIA will hold 1.66% of the company, Glade Brook Capital will own around 1.33%, HCL Technologies' stake will be diluted to approximately 9.95%, and the founders will maintain around 38.44% ownership.

Founded by Vivek Raghavan and Pratyush Kumar, Sarvam AI develops artificial intelligence models, infrastructure, and enterprise-focused solutions designed specifically for Indian languages and local use cases. The company has built foundational AI models including Sarvam 105B, Sarvam 30B, and Sarvam Vision, which address the unique requirements of Indian businesses and users across multiple sectors.

The funding will strengthen Sarvam AI's AI research capabilities, expand its technology infrastructure, and accelerate the development of enterprise AI products. The company recently appointed Devendra Singh Chaplot, a founding member of Thinking Machines Lab, as an advisor. This investment reflects growing global interest in India's AI ecosystem as businesses increasingly adopt AI-powered solutions and invest in homegrown AI capabilities.
