GeForce NOW is launching several updates ahead of the back-to-school season, starting with the native Linux application officially graduating from beta. Built on months of community feedback, the release prioritizes performance, stability, and polish while supporting Ubuntu 24.04 and later. A new Flatpack repository simplifies installation and future updates. This allows Linux users to stream high-performance GeForce RTX gaming without local hardware upgrades or compatibility issues.

The service has also optimized DLSS Frame Generation in the cloud, which reduces latency and improves responsiveness during streaming. These enhancements are particularly noticeable when playing at 60 or 120 frames per second in 1440p and 4K resolutions, making camera movements and mouse inputs feel more immediate. Additionally, Performance members will receive automatic server-side software adjustments that increase frame rates in select CPU-intensive games. This upgrade requires no installation or configuration and comes at no extra cost.

For students, GeForce NOW can transform everyday Chromebooks into high-performance gaming machines. Users can simply open a supported browser or app to stream more than 2,000 supported PC games, with the cloud handling the processing. This flexibility also extends to Macs, Surface devices, standard laptops, Steam Deck, and mobile devices. Eligible new Chromebook and Chromebook+ owners can claim a full year of GeForce NOW at no cost through Chromebook Fast Pass, which includes priority access and an ad-free experience.

This week, nine new games are joining the GeForce NOW library. To highlight the platform's cross-device affordability and accessibility, creator Madelyn recently shared her experience in a video, calling the service a game changer. Readers are encouraged to share their weekend gaming plans on X or in the comments.
