Scaleway has announced plans to deploy GPU capacity in Copenhagen, Denmark, and in Sweden. The company made both announcements today (October 13) at its AI-Pulse 2026 event in Paris.

In Sweden, Scaleway will deploy an "AI supercomputer" based on AMD Instinct MI355X GPUs. The company says this will be its first supercomputer deployment outside France, and it will give startups, AI companies, and enterprises across Europe access to AMD Instinct GPU capacity at scale. Scaleway has not disclosed the expected compute capacity of the supercomputer or the number of GPUs it will contain.

"We are excited to deepen our work with AMD and bring the power of AMD Instinct technology to companies across Europe at this scale," said Damien Lucas, CEO of Scaleway. "Doing it from Sweden makes this milestone particularly meaningful, as we continue to grow our presence and investment across Europe."

"Scaleway is expanding the AI infrastructure choices available to customers across Europe with AMD Instinct GPUs and our open ROCm software ecosystem," said Stephanie Dismore, senior vice president, EMEA, AMD. "Our work with Scaleway will help organizations access the high-performance compute and open software capabilities they need to develop and scale demanding AI workloads."

Vast Data will provide the data platform for the supercomputer.

AMD officially launched the MI355X GPUs in June 2025. Built on 3nm technology and based on AMD's CDNA 4 architecture, the MI350 series offers 288GB of HBM3E and 8TB/s of memory bandwidth. The MI355X provides 79 teraflops of FP64 compute, and the GPUs' total board power (TBP) reaches up to 1,000W and 1,400W, respectively.

Compared with Nvidia's GB200 and B200, AMD claims the MI355X offers 1.6x more memory capacity, 1x more memory bandwidth, and 2x more peak FP64 performance. AMD also says the GPUs deliver a 4x generation-on-generation increase in AI compute and a 35x generational improvement in inferencing.

According to Scaleway, the Swedish deployment builds on its existing partnership with Tele2. The two companies said in 2025 that they would launch a cloud and AI offering in Sweden in May of this year. Tele2 operates two data centers in Sweden.

In Copenhagen, Scaleway plans to launch a "GPU zone." It is unclear how this differs from the AI supercomputer in Sweden. The company describes its GPU zones as "locations designed to provide large-scale GPU capacity for AI training and inference, complementing its existing cloud Availability Zones." DCD has contacted the company for clarification.

The company says the Copenhagen GPU zone will offer Nvidia HGX B300 compute.

"Access to high-performance AI computing is becoming a strategic priority for European organizations, and they increasingly want that capacity delivered by providers they can trust. With our new GPU Zone in Copenhagen, we're responding to that demand by bringing the latest Nvidia technologies closer to customers, while staying true to our commitment to European technological independence," said Damien Lucas, CEO of Scaleway.
