Positron AI, a Singapore-based startup developing chips for running artificial intelligence models, has announced a $875 million funding round that values the company at $5 billion. This represents a more than fourfold increase in valuation over the past seven months.

The company previously raised $230 million in February at a $1.06 billion valuation, according to PitchBook. Positron AI operates in the competitive AI inference market—the execution of already-trained models—where specialized processor developers are working to challenge Nvidia's dominance.

The new round consists of two stages. Series C raised $375 million at a pre-money valuation of $3.5 billion. Series C-1, led by NEA and Jim Clark (founder of Silicon Graphics), provides for up to $500 million in additional investment. Atreides Management, Valor Equity Partners, Andra Capital, and SemiAnalysis Capital serve as co-leads, with additional investors including Qatar Investment Authority, Cisco Investments, and Naver Ventures.

Positron AI will direct the raised capital toward the final stages of designing Asimov, its next-generation chip, with production expected to begin in the second half of 2027. The company's Titan AI inference system will combine four to eight Asimov chips, a configuration designed to support models with over 16 trillion parameters and context windows exceeding 10 million tokens on a single node.

The company has already deployed more than 50 Atlas racks—its first-generation inference system—at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. Positron's board of directors includes Forest Baskett of NEA, Gavin Baker of Atreides Management, SemiAnalysis founder Dylan Patel, and Thomas Jermoluk of the Jim Clark Office.
