Goodman Group receives regulatory approval for a 135MW data center campus in northern Sydney, Australia.

Australia’s Goodman Group has secured planning approval from the NSW Department of Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure for Project Apollo, a 135MW data center in northern Sydney, New South Wales. The decision follows a departmental meeting held last week.

Valued at approximately AU$1.4 billion ($1bn), the project was first submitted for development at 4-10 Talavera Road, Macquarie Park, in 2024. The site will see two existing buildings demolished to accommodate a new development featuring eight data halls. The facility will be powered by grid electricity and equipped with evaporative cooling towers, alongside on-site backup diesel generators and lithium-ion battery storage systems.

Once operational, the data center is expected to create up to 60 permanent positions. Historically concentrated on logistics and industrial real estate, Goodman now operates or is actively developing data center projects across Hong Kong, Australia, Germany, the United States, France, and Japan.

In Los Angeles, California, the company recently topped out a 32MW data center scheduled for handover next year, while also announcing plans for a 97MW facility in San Jose. Across Sydney, Goodman is advancing multiple additional sites: a 126MW campus on a former Castrol property in Guildford West, an 80MW conversion of the former ABC television studios on the North Shore, a 90MW redevelopment of a former Eaton warehouse in Mascot, and a 90MW campus at a warehouse site in Cove West.
