Zayo is deepening its fiber network partnerships with Corning to address surging AI infrastructure demand for high-bandwidth connectivity.

Zayo Group has entered into a long-term fiber supply agreement with Corning, the world’s largest optical fiber manufacturer, as both companies work to meet the surging infrastructure demands of the artificial intelligence era. The deal positions Zayo to secure a reliable pipeline of optical fiber and cable for its expanding network of AI-focused corridors, addressing growing supply constraints that have become a critical bottleneck across the industry.

Zayo is currently constructing more than 8,000 route miles of new long-haul fiber across key AI corridors. Nvidia serves as an anchor customer for the expansion, with the upgraded infrastructure designed to alleviate network capacity constraints at AI manufacturing and computing facilities.

The arrangement guarantees Zayo access to the raw materials required to maintain construction schedules. The company has already begun integrating Corning-manufactured fibers, including the SMF-28 product line, into select AI-centric route builds to enhance performance.

To address the surge in AI-related demand, Corning is increasing its U.S. optical connectivity manufacturing capacity by 10x and boosting overall fiber production by more than 50%. This expansion comes amid intensifying competition for optical infrastructure. In January 2026, Corning and Meta announced a $6 billion multiyear agreement for advanced optical fiber and cable to support Meta’s new data center construction. Amazon followed with its own commitments to Corning in mid-2026, further tightening available supply for other market participants.

The timing aligns with Zayo’s recent completion of its $8.5 billion acquisition of Crown Castle’s fiber solutions business in May 2026. That transaction significantly expanded Zayo’s metro fiber footprint, adding essential last-mile and urban connectivity required to shuttle AI workloads between facilities.

Industry analysts note that Zayo’s supply-chain relationship with Corning has been steadily deepening, particularly as Corning scales its capacity to serve AI requirements. Formalizing this long-term agreement transforms what was previously a standard vendor arrangement into a strategic partnership, positioning both companies to navigate the unprecedented scale of next-generation data center buildouts.
