Intel stock gains on Wall Street analyst endorsement of Intel's AI product roadmap and manufacturing turnaround strategy.
Intel Corporation's stock rallied 5.09 percent on September 21, 2026, buoyed by upbeat forecasts for AI chip demand and data center growth, with Wall Street analysts signaling renewed confidence in the company's turnaround prospects.
The momentum stems from multiple catalysts. High-NA EUV technology at Intel Foundry is already in high-volume manufacturing, with over one million wafers run to date. The 18A and Panther Lake Core Ultra Series 3 process nodes are meeting or beating prior 0.33 NA EUV performance—a significant milestone for a company long criticized for process technology delays. Tigress Financial raised its price target on Intel to $145 from $118, maintaining a Buy rating and citing an AI-driven turnaround underpinned by the Terafab partnership, stronger Xeon demand, and solid 18A execution. Northland also shifted its stance, upgrading Intel from Market Perform to Outperform with a $120 target, pointing to server CPU shortage tailwinds and Terafab upside with SpaceX and Tesla.
Near-term pricing dynamics also support the rally. Reports of a further 10 percent PC CPU price hike expected in early October have already pushed the stock more than 10 percent higher, signaling renewed pricing power. Additionally, Intel shares surged on reports of potential SK Hynix partnerships at the Ohio fabrication plant, with discussions around either leasing part of the facility or forming a joint venture to manufacture memory chips in the U.S.—a fresh monetization angle for Intel's foundry expansion.
Intel's technical picture shows a recovery from the high-80s in late August to around $108–$109 by mid-September, with shallow pullbacks and higher lows stacked along the way. Fundamentals remain mixed: the company booked roughly $16.1 billion in quarterly revenue but continues to carry negative net income and weak returns on equity and assets. However, operating cash flow stands at approximately $7.0 billion with free cash flow around $4.45 billion, and the balance sheet maintains a solid current ratio near 1.6. The stock trades at a price-to-sales ratio near 10.
Beyond the near term, Intel holds significant optionality. Altera is preparing an IPO expected to raise over $2 billion, while Mobileye's position in autonomous mobility offers additional upside potential.
