Equinix, the global digital infrastructure company, announced on August 11, 2026 that it continues to support Governor Abbott's data center standards and audit process. The company stated it will work openly with Texas to demonstrate the practices it maintains as it invests in infrastructure and strengthens communities across the state.

Equinix has been a cornerstone of Texas's digital infrastructure for over 25 years, having opened its first International Business Exchange facility in Dallas more than two decades ago. The company now operates nine facilities throughout Texas, including eight in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and one in Houston. Equinix's total investment in Texas exceeds $1.6 billion, with an additional $1 billion or more in projects currently in progress as the company deepens its long-term commitment. The company employs more than 800 Texans and hosted more than 57,000 visitors—customers and partners—at its Texas facilities over the past year, demonstrating the scale of economic activity generated for local businesses.

The company's flagship Dallas location at the Infomart serves as the most interconnected building in Texas and functions as a critical hub for the region's economy. Equinix's data centers support some of Texas's largest employers across aerospace and defense, oil and gas, manufacturing, airlines, hospitals, universities, banks, government agencies, and public safety organizations. The infrastructure it provides powers everyday services including financial systems, 911 call centers, and streaming platforms.

Arquelle Shaw, President of the Americas at Equinix, stated that the company appreciates Governor Abbott's leadership and applauds the high standards he has set for industry growth. Shaw noted that the standards regarding grid costs, water stewardship, community impact, and transparency align with how Equinix operates and reflect its ongoing commitment to the state. The company said it welcomes the process and looks forward to working with state officials, the Public Utility Commission, and policymakers.

Equinix's support for the standards is rooted in its Community Principles, which guide operations across all communities where the company works. These principles address five key areas: public infrastructure investment, power responsibility, jobs and skills development, natural resource protection, and bridging the digital divide. In Texas, Equinix bears the full cost of its grid infrastructure needs so that costs are not passed to consumers, pursues water-responsible cooling practices, and partners with Dallas-area schools on technical education and career development. The company intends to continue leading in these areas as it expands its Texas presence.
