Nvidia reports strong Q2 FY2027 financial results driven by sustained demand for AI accelerators, highlighting key metrics behind the ongoing hardware expansion.
Nvidia’s latest earnings underscore the accelerating scale of the artificial intelligence infrastructure boom. Revenue, data-center sales, and profitability all surged sharply year over year, reflecting sustained enterprise investment in AI computing capacity. The following figures illustrate the magnitude of the company’s performance during the second quarter of fiscal year 2027.
Total revenue reached $96.2 billion, marking a 106% increase compared to the same period last year and an 18% rise sequentially. This growth trajectory confirms that demand for AI computing remains exceptionally robust. Driving this expansion, Nvidia’s data-center segment generated $89 billion in revenue, a 117% year-over-year jump. The division continues to serve as the primary catalyst for the company’s overall growth, fueled by heavy capital expenditure from enterprises scaling their AI infrastructure.
Profitability metrics expanded at an even faster pace. GAAP net income climbed to $59.69 billion, representing a 126% increase from the $26.42 billion reported a year earlier. This result demonstrates that Nvidia is successfully translating surging sales into substantial bottom-line growth. On a per-share basis, GAAP diluted earnings reached $2.46, up 128% from $1.08 twelve months prior. Excluding non-recurring items, non-GAAP diluted earnings per share came in at $2.22, highlighting how rapidly the company’s earnings power has scaled alongside AI chip demand.
Operational efficiency remained high, with Nvidia reporting a 75% GAAP gross margin for the quarter, slightly above the 74.9% recorded in the preceding period. However, the company anticipates a gradual moderation in profitability as component costs rise. According to the Wall Street Journal, Nvidia projects forward gross margins to settle in the 72% to 73% range.
Looking ahead, Nvidia forecasts approximately $108 billion in revenue for the upcoming quarter, implying another substantial year-over-year expansion. Management expects AI infrastructure demand to remain resilient. For investors, the critical question moving forward is whether continued spending on AI can sustainably generate returns at this current pace.
