Tencent, Alibaba and ByteDance have reportedly placed orders worth about $35 billion for Nvidia RTX Pro 5500 GPUs, with demand well above Nvidia's planned production. Other outlets report the order is for over 3 million chips, and some estimate Chinese buyers may receive only about a tenth of it.

A very large, export-compliant China demand signal that tightens near-term Nvidia supply allocation and could shift the GPU market balance for AI infrastructure buyers.

Chinese technology giants ByteDance, Alibaba, and Tencent have reportedly spent more than $35 billion on orders for over 3 million Nvidia RTX Pro 5500 workstation GPUs. The RTX Pro 5500 is fully compliant with U.S. restrictions on exports of AI-capable GPUs to China. The order reportedly far exceeds Nvidia's planned production for the card.

According to sources who spoke to Reuters, Nvidia has told its customers that it cannot fill the orders because they far outstrip its planned production for this GPU.
