The US government has approved Anthropic to redeploy Claude Mythos 5, according to the company. The model represents Anthropic's most powerful AI offering for cybersecurity and can now be used again by US organizations responsible for critical infrastructure operations and protection. The approval mirrors an exception granted to OpenAI, which can offer its new frontier model, GPT-5.6 Sol, to select organizations and customers.

Under this exception, Anthropic employees who are not US nationals, as well as members of approved organizations who are not US nationals, are cleared to use Mythos 5.

Anthropic is also working with the US government to expand access to Mythos 5 and restore broad availability of Fable 5, though the company has not provided a timeline. OpenAI expects the process to take "a few weeks" for GPT-5.6 Sol.

Anthropic had been working with the US government since June 12 to restore access to both Mythos 5 and Fable 5 following earlier government-ordered restrictions.
