Base Electron has confidentially filed for a U.S. initial public offering, the company said on Friday, as investor interest in AI-related infrastructure remains firm. The number of shares to be offered and the proposed price range have not yet been determined.

Base Electron develops, owns and operates energy infrastructure serving data centers, AI facilities and large industrial users. Applied Digital formed the company to supply power to its AI campuses under separate agreements. In March, Base Electron approved a $2.4 billion agreement with Babcock & Wilcox for equipment supporting a 1.2-gigawatt power project tied to Applied Digital's artificial intelligence campuses.

Investor appetite for AI-linked infrastructure remains strong, but the sector is also facing closer scrutiny over valuations, capital requirements and the quality of project backlogs. The long-term opportunity behind the filing is substantial. PwC projects that cumulative global spending on data centers alone could top $30 trillion by 2050, underscoring the potential market for companies building power capacity for digital and industrial users.

Capital continues to flow heavily into the buildout around AI, spanning cloud capacity, model development and energy systems. Recent large financings include Axiom Solutions International's $2 billion raise and other sizable deals for quantum and energy platforms, reflecting sustained investor demand for the infrastructure needed to support AI growth.
