Shares of CoreWeave (NASDAQ: CRWV) and Nebius Group (NASDAQ: NBIS) fell more than 6% on Wednesday following a Bloomberg report indicating that Meta Platforms is preparing to expand into the cloud infrastructure market. The announcement triggered a sell-off across companies exposed to AI cloud infrastructure as investors assessed the competitive implications of a major new entrant.

According to the report, Meta is exploring strategies to commercialize its artificial intelligence infrastructure by offering customers direct access to AI computing resources and foundation models. The company is reportedly evaluating a business model that would enable developers to utilize AI models hosted on Meta’s own infrastructure. Additionally, Meta is considering providing direct access to raw computing capacity, a move that would place it in direct competition with neocloud providers such as CoreWeave.

CoreWeave has built its core business around delivering GPU-accelerated cloud computing services tailored for artificial intelligence workloads, while Nebius has similarly been scaling its AI infrastructure capabilities. The prospect of Meta entering the sector has raised concerns among market participants that competition will intensify precisely as demand for AI computing resources continues to accelerate. Investors are closely monitoring CoreWeave stock price and Nebius Group stock price movements as they evaluate how this potential shift may affect pricing, capacity allocation, and growth trajectories for specialized AI cloud providers.
