importance 81Amazon has signed a 20-year power purchase agreement with Constellation Energy to support the expansion of the Calvert Cliffs nuclear power station in Maryland, announced on September 30. The deal will enable more than $3 billion (€2.6 billion) in infrastructure investment at the site.
Under the agreement, Amazon will receive 690 MW of power from Calvert Cliffs. According to International Atomic Energy Agency data, the station operates two pressurized water reactor units with capacities of 877 MW and 855 MW.
Constellation said the $3 billion investment will fund improvements across the entire Calvert Cliffs plant and approximately 190 MW of new generating capacity, with the new units coming online between 2030 and 2032.
