NVIDIA allocates 27,500 Rubin GPUs to Japan's national AI factory infrastructure project

NVIDIA will provide the computing systems and full-stack AI platform for Japan's first national AI infrastructure, according to an announcement by NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang. The partnership will deploy a Vera Rubin AI factory in collaboration with Noetra to support Japan's METI-backed FRONTia project.

The system will be configured with 13,750 Vera CPUs and 27,500 Rubin GPUs. The infrastructure stack spans AI factory compute, foundational models, digital twins, robot simulation, and industrial deployment capabilities.

This announcement identifies a specific national physical-AI infrastructure build, distinguishing Japan's commitment from broader general AI ambitions. The platform positions NVIDIA to supply both hardware and software components across the full technology stack for Japan's AI factory initiative.
