Galaxy Digital is acquiring 500 acres in McGregor, Texas to build a second major AI and high-performance computing data
Galaxy Digital Inc. announced on July 28, 2026 that it has acquired approximately 500 acres in McGregor, McLennan County, Texas through a development agreement with the City of McGregor for construction of an AI and high-performance computing data center campus within the McGregor Industrial Park. This project represents the Company's second major data center investment in Texas, building on its flagship Helios campus in West Texas, which has more than 1.6 gigawatts of power capacity.
The campus will be developed in collaboration with the McGregor Economic Development Corporation and Heart of Texas Electric Cooperative. Galaxy's land purchase generated approximately 7.5 million dollars in revenue to the City. The initial phase of development is expected to reach 74 MW, with the Company expecting the initial phase to begin receiving power in 2028. Following completion of additional transmission infrastructure by the utility, Galaxy believes the campus has potential to grow into a multi-hundred-megawatt facility through 2030.
As part of the development agreement, Galaxy has committed to several community benefits. The company will build its own private electrical substation and provide full financial security for required upgrades to local infrastructure. The project will add an estimated minimum of 130 million dollars to the local property tax base, supporting schools, emergency services, and other community needs. The facility will use a closed-loop cooling system that recirculates water internally to keep water consumption low, with Galaxy funding additional water infrastructure as needed.
Construction is expected to support several hundred trade partners and construction jobs, with permanent full-time operations positions to follow at competitive salaries. Galaxy has been the largest employer and taxpayer in Dickens County since acquiring Helios in 2022 and has invested in community recreation, public safety, broadband expansion, and workforce development partnerships with local schools.
