Research and Markets announced on July 14, 2026, that the Spain data center market is on track for significant expansion, with a projected compound annual growth rate of 17.55% from 2025 to 2031. Leading data center organizations including Form8tion Data Centers, Nostrum Group, QTS, Solaria Edged Energy, and Merlin Properties are constructing high megawatt campuses, reflecting a trend toward larger colocation facilities and increased market consolidation.

The market is particularly focused on AI-ready infrastructure. EdgeMode is developing an AI-focused platform through a joint venture with Blackberry Alternative Investment Fund, covering five campuses with a combined power capacity of 1.5 gigawatts. This underscores robust advancement in AI infrastructure development across the region.

Connectivity infrastructure is also expanding, with Google's announcement of the Sol subsea cable linking Spain and the United States and connecting strategic points across the Atlantic. Sustainability has become a priority, with data center operators investing in energy-efficient infrastructure. Facilities are increasingly adopting solar and wind energy sources along with modern cooling technologies and optimized power usage effectiveness. Templus is building a facility in Ceuta that will operate entirely on renewable energy, initially providing 1.2 megawatts of capacity with plans for future expansion. This and other new constructions are expected to become operational by mid-2026.
