On June 19, Reuters reported that ASML Holding N.V. denied ever shipping an EUV lithography machine to China after concerns raised by U.S. officials. In an emailed statement, the company said it had "never shipped an EUV machine to China nor have we shipped to China any component, module, or equipment specially designed to be used in an EUV machine."

The denial came after U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick raised concerns that an EUV tool may have reached China in violation of export restrictions, according to Bloomberg reporting cited by Reuters. ASML stated that it "consistently adjusted its business" to comply with evolving export controls.

The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that semiconductor equipment exports require licenses under strict rules and enforcement. Washington proposed legislation in April urging allies to align export controls, with ASML's equipment specifically named in the proposed measures. Earlier reporting has documented Chinese efforts to develop domestic EUV technology as an alternative to foreign equipment.

ASML engages in the development, production, marketing, sales, upgrading and servicing of advanced semiconductor equipment systems, including lithography, metrology and inspection systems.
