Noon Energy and Sabanci Renewables have announced a strategic partnership to co-develop up to 1 GW of ultra-long duratio
Noon Energy and Sabanci Renewables announced on August 13, 2026 a joint strategic agreement to co-develop ultra-long duration energy storage projects that will integrate Noon Energy's reversible electrofuels battery systems with Sabanci's renewable portfolio. The partnership targets up to 1 GW of capacity, structured as Power Purchase Agreements or capacity offtake agreements for systems up to 100 GWh, to enable 100 percent clean, firm baseload power for AI infrastructure.
Sabanci Climate Ventures, which holds an investment in Noon Energy and is the sister company of Sabanci Renewables, enabled the collaboration, reflecting strong confidence in Noon's technology and setting the stage for potential commercial deployment beginning as early as 2027.
Noon Energy's technology stores energy for 100 or more hours using abundant elements such as carbon and oxygen, rather than scarce metals like lithium. Sabanci Renewables is currently operating and constructing four power plants with a combined capacity of 790 MWdc in the ERCOT market and is targeting a 3 GW renewable portfolio in the United States over the next five years. These joint projects are expected to significantly contribute to that capacity goal.
Chris Graves, Noon Energy's CEO, stated that the partnership marks a critical step in accelerating commercialization. "In this cooperation we will develop the commercial, technical, and operational frameworks to unlock a 100 percent reliable and renewable grid for cents per kWh using multi-day energy storage."
Murat Oguz Arcan, Chief Growth Officer of Sabanci Renewables and Managing Director of Sabanci Climate Ventures, added that the companies aim to bridge Noon Energy's ultra-long duration storage technology with Sabanci Renewables' renewable expertise to develop the clean, reliable, and scalable energy infrastructure that the AI economy requires. Sabanci Renewables will contribute project development insights and capital expertise, while Noon Energy will focus on scaling manufacturing, providing technical input, and overseeing operations and maintenance.
Noon Energy was founded in 2018 and has raised more than 45 million dollars in venture capital and government grants. Sabanci Renewables is the U.S. utility-scale renewable energy arm of Sabanci Climate Technologies, a subsidiary of Sabanci Holding, one of Turkey's leading holding companies with over three decades of energy sector expertise.
