Taiwan's network equipment market grew 16.4% in Q1 2025 driven by AI and datacenter demand.

Increased demand for networking infrastructure components reflects accelerating datacenter buildout globally.

Taiwan's network infrastructure market reached $113 million in Q1 2025, marking a 16.4 percent year-over-year growth, according to IDC's latest Worldwide Quarterly Network Infrastructure Tracker. The market showed strong recovery momentum with double-digit growth for two consecutive quarters, driven by rising investments from semiconductor and high-tech manufacturers to expand chip and AI server production. Ethernet switches dominated with a 69.7 percent share, followed by wireless access at 18.1 percent and routers at 12.3 percent. Increased demand for AI-related products has led to higher local and overseas facility investments, further boosting network equipment sales.

A significant contributor to Q1 growth was the Taiwan Academic Network (TANet) project, initiated by the Ministry of Education and academic institutions, aimed at upgrading backbone bandwidth. High-end router purchases for this once-in-a-decade initiative lifted enterprise router revenues. Cisco maintained its lead in Ethernet switches and enterprise routers, while HPE-Aruba led the commercial wireless access segment. TP-Link topped the home router market, and F5 remained the leader in the ADC (Application Delivery Controller) market. The surge in demand for 400G Ethernet switches by public cloud and data center operators fueled substantial growth for vendors like Arista, Nvidia, and ODM-Direct.

IDC expects Taiwan's Ethernet switch market to grow 10–15 percent in 2025, with Taiwan's overall network infrastructure market forecast to grow 10–15 percent that year and a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.8 percent from 2024 to 2029. The consumer wireless router segment remains in recovery; despite retailers introducing Wi-Fi 7 products, high prices and minimal advantages over Wi-Fi 6/6E are slowing adoption, though broader uptake is anticipated in H2 2025 as more affordable models become available. On the enterprise side, commercial wireless access points are expected to grow 5–10 percent, driven by expansion projects at large companies both domestically and overseas. IDC Senior Market Analyst Jeff Yeh noted that while economic uncertainties remain due to ongoing tariff negotiations, demand for generative AI and cloud services continues to boost high-speed networking investments.

Cisco's position slipped in the 2025 Gartner Magic Quadrant for enterprise wired and wireless LAN infrastructure, dropping from Leader to Challenger. Gartner noted Cisco has shifted toward AI‑enhanced integration across its Catalyst and Meraki portfolios and is pushing deeper into unified hardware, licensing, and AI networking capabilities. In datacenter switching, Cisco posted roughly $1.25 billion in Ethernet revenue in Q1 2025—about one third of the global market—but trailed behind Arista and Nvidia in high-speed data center segments. HPE Aruba retained its Leader status, continuing to be praised for its AI‑powered, security‑first fabric spanning wired and wireless networking via Aruba Central. Arista Networks recorded $1.48 billion in Ethernet switch sales in Q1 2025, up 26 percent and commanding about 21.3 percent of the global datacenter switch market, narrowly ahead of Nvidia's 21.1 percent share.

Nvidia has accelerated its networking ambitions in Taiwan dramatically. At COMPUTEX 2025 in Taipei it unveiled NVLink Fusion—its new inter‑chip connectivity technology intended to license to chip makers, including MediaTek and Marvell, to facilitate scalable customized AI systems. In partnership with Foxconn and Taiwan's government, Nvidia is funding and helping build an "AI Factory" supercomputing hub powered by 10,000 Blackwell GPUs, hosted by Foxconn's Big Innovation Company and tapped by TSMC and research agencies, to serve as a cloud AI infrastructure backbone for Taiwan's startups, academic institutions, and industrial partners. Nvidia has sealed full capacity booking of Wistron's Zhubei AI server plant through 2026 to produce Blackwell and Rubin platform servers, and placed a massive order of 300,000 H20 AI chips with TSMC to meet demand in China after restrictions eased.
