The United Arab Emirates is considering investing as much as JPY 1 trillion (USD 6.3 billion) to build an AI data centre in Japan, according to a person familiar with the matter cited by Bloomberg. Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund Mubadala Investment would lead the funding of a 500-MW project in Akita Prefecture, which may include participation from other foreign and domestic investors. Once completed, it could become Japan's largest data centre.
